sometimes I forget people actually read this :)
so what's new...
Dad was just here last weekend and we had SOOOO much fun. I think I wore us both out pretty bad, but it was worth it, right Dad? We went to have lunch at the Edinburgh Castle, then flew to Ireland, drove on the other side of the rode (and the car!), almost blew off the Cliffs of Moher, made some new Irish friends in a pub, had a drink at the infamous Durty Nellies, flew home just in time to climb Arthur's Seat (almost!), then laid low the rest of the weekend just wandering the city eating fish and chips.

Most of my classes end next week, so what am I going to do for the next month, you ask? Well...
Caroline is coming to see me Dec 23-30. No big trips planned, probably just some little day trips around Scotland. Then she overlaps with Taylor who gets into Edinburgh on Dec 29. We'll celebrate New Year's at Edinburgh's Hogmanay, one of the largest New Year's celebrations in the world - literally! Then go to Paris for a few days on Jan 2-5. Then possibly spend a day or so in London before Taylor goes back to the homeland on Jan 8. Then a week of much needed rest before my final guest arrives :) Mom flies into Edinburgh on Jan 15. We'll be taking a short detour over to Sweden for a couple days before flying home together (finally!) on Jan 24.
Wow, I think I'm going to go take a nap. I have a long 6 weeks ahead of me!
I forgot I had these pictures from the castle, so I'll try and get some more up on Facebook soon from that afternoon.

Darling daughter...can't believe you forgot to mention that we did all this too --
1. Won the World Cup. Told no one. (Didn't want to brag, plus not sure when it happened.)
2. Avoided starting a fight in the Irish pub, even though they turned the TV from rugby to golf.
3. In fact, didn't see any fights in Ireland at all. Disappointing.
4. Used our very best brogue in Shannon. Aye, quite good, laddie. (Until we started to sound like pirates.)
5. Said "cheers" to everyone as often as we could.
6. Sang old Irish folk songs driving to the Cliffs. (Were we on the high road or the low road?)
7. Got lost many times trying to find our way out of the airport rental car parking lot. (So did the guy following us.)
8. Loved watching Gordon Ramsey's live Friday night TV cooking show. (What? They use spices??)
9. Stayed up and talked until the wee hours in the hotel room, even though I hadn't slept for like 48 hours. (Not sure what I said.)
10. Had "hearty Irish breakfasts." (Were those potatoes?)
11. Got on local TV during the small but well-covered street protest - "Free Whats-His-Name!"
12. Ate literally the worst hamburger EVER at the Edinburgh airport. (Trigger died in vain.)
13. Would've killed for some ketchup on my chips, but went for the brown sauce instead.
14. Did almost all the lines from Holy Grail, many of them multiple times. (Who are the Britains?)
15. Died laughing at the irony of the kilted dude hiking up Arthur. (I'm such a wuss.)
16. Had a wonderful going-away evening with the flatmates at the Golf Tavern. (Glad I could be "Dad" for the evening.)
17. Met lots of lovely people at the Eikon service, like Osama! (Still think Taylor and that one chick...?)
18. Officially welcomed Christmas to the flat. (Look,we have a tree!)
19. Heard Wham sing "Last Christmas I Gave You My Heart" about 88 times.
20. Toasted the memory of Greyfriar's Bobby outside the pub of his namesake.
21. Had the most unforgettable, exhausting and exhilirating trip with the most amazing young lady that anyone could imagine.
Wow! A two-fer! loved the post (finally!) and the comment was great too! Turns out you DID leave a lot out!! Glad you both had such a great time! Once in a lifetime memories I would guess!!
